Zoolander High End Fashion Vogue Shoot

In the most recently released issue of Vogue, Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is featured and photographed alongside Penelope Cruz, Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, and Jourdan Dunn. In each picture, those photographed model high end fashion pieces from designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Tom Ford, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, etc. Annie Leibovitz, the shoot photographer, did not disappoint with this latest spread.

I was pleasantly surprised when looking at this photo shoot. Due to my disfavor of the Zoolander movies, I initially had no interest in looking at the issue. However, to my delight I found the pictures to be intriguing and I was left impressed by the clever scenes that were captured by the camera and printed in the magazine.

Zoolander Vogue Spread

Amandla Stenberg Face of February Teen Vogue February 2016

In the recently released February 2016 issue of Teen Vogue, 17 year old Amandla Stenberg was photographed as this month's cover girl and given an eight photograph spread. Stenberg is famous for her role in The Hunger Games as Rue. This issue of Teen Vogue served as a way for Stenberg to assert herself as a strong African American bisexual feminist as she discusses the struggles she has endured.

Accompanying her photo shoot, Stenberg discusses the trials African American women face in relation to dress. This would concern aspects of skin tone as well as hair. The fashion industry and the media has set high standards for African American women, especially when it comes to hair. Instead of wearing their natural hair, African American women are frequently pressured to spend lots of money on their hair to make it smoother or more "tame." Perhaps Stenberg's natural hair in her photo shoot is a sign of rebellion.

In regards to the shoot, Stenberg models a very distinct style that is an equal balance between masculine and feminine styles. She wears Adidas sports jackets with jeans, yet is accessorized with prominent earrings and large heels or a blouse and pants accessorized with sneakers and a simple necklace. Overall, the look is somewhat reminiscent of the late 60's early 70's wherein social and civil rights movements were at an all time high. Coincidence? I think not.

Despite the cold weather, spring will soon be approaching (especially since the groundhog saw his shadow!). With the season coming upon us, many are preparing their wardrobes with the hottest trends and brands of 2016. In order to advertise new clothing, many high fashion companies, such as Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Balmain, have photographed famous celebrities and models to show off their newest fashion statements.

On February 3, 2016 W Magazine and Selena Gomez announced the celebrity's upcoming spread in the magazine via Instagram. W Magazine is well established and popular fashion magazine that has gained much credibility in the fashion industry. The shoot pictured Gomez on the beach in various swimsuit ensembles for the March 2016 issue.

Gomez has gained much popularity in the media as of late and it is no surprise that she was photographed for this issue. Her shoot displays a wide range of trendy swim attire to display this year's hot styles as spring approaches. Photographer Steven Klein utilized warm filters to really express the warmth in these photos as well as played with various colors to give the shoot extra vibrancy.

Overall, the spread is very eye catching and features one of today's hottest stars as she models some of today's hottest fashion trends as well as those predicted for the spring/summer. Topshop Denim Campaign

Topshop has recently released a new denim campaign and, with it, various familiar faces. Modeling their multiple new styles, Topshop has hired up and coming models Bella Hadid, Grace Hartzel, Sophia Ahrens, Malaika Firth, Aneta Pajak, Marga Esquivel, Ella Richards, Steffi Argelich, and Imaan Hammam. These young faces are perfect for the brand as they are relatable figures for young girls. 

The wide variety of jeans are very trendy and fit into the hot jean scene of 2016. The new campaign is sure to be a popular one.

Beckham and Burberry

Burberry has recently announced a new photographer for their new fragrance campaign. Booklyn Beckham, the 16 year old son of soccer star David Beckham, was unexpectedly revealed as Burberry Brit's new photographer. Despite the opinion of angered professional photographers, the seemingly inexperienced young teen seems to have proven himself worthy through sneak-peaks of the campaign via Instagram.

Both Burberry and Brooklyn Beckham have posted various teasers for their followers. Through Snapchat and Instagram, fans were able to have an exclusive look on the set of the shoot. Although more "professional" photographers are angered by Burberry's choice in photographers, followers on social media are relatively supportive of the young photographer's prospective career.

I personally believe that Burberry's choice was a perfect fit for the company. The photos very clearly correlate with previous images from Burberry's past photoshoots: simple, yet intriguing with the usage of subdued shades. Additionally, Brooklyn Beckham adds a touch of youth to his images, reaching out to a larger audience and attracting young shoppers to the brand.
