Earlier today, Dior's latest ready to wear designs for Fall 2016 walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week. The line included various jackets, blouses, skirts, dresses, and accessories. For the most part, the collection was relatively neutral, staying true to the prescribed colors of fall--browns, blacks, beiges, etc. However, there was also the occasional pop of color--such as orange, yellow, or purple--to add an unexpected pop.
It would seem that this line had some influence from trends from previous eras, especially those seen in the Thirties. One of the more prominent accessories to walk the runway were lace up heels/boots. The shoes were very reminiscent of a vintage women's boot style from the 1930s. Additionally, the numerous jackets that were seen were mostly double breasted trench coats, a popular style for men's suits introduced in the 1930's as well. None of the pieces were especially tight, also alluding to an earlier decade in women's fashion.
A familiar face walked to runway, however, modeling a black coat with an open fur color. That face was none other than Kendall Jenner strutting down the Dior catwalk. Jenner's ensemble was a piece that fit right into the rest of the collection, while also being able to stand out as a unique piece, possibly due to the fur--a popular luxury asset during the early 1900s. Even Jenner's hair alludes to the popular style from almost one hundred years ago.
